I spent my Saturday photographing this one year old. We spent some time in my studio and outside. The photo above is one of my favorites. This is exactly what I had envisioned as we were setting this shot. The flower was a bonus and I have to say is the icing on the cake.

One of my goals for this year was to carry around a camera with me at all times. It’s almost impossible to carry around my big SLR so I spent a few weeks researching and came across the Canon SD780 IS. My criteria was good quality, reasonably priced and small. I was lucky enough to get all three. Yesterday I went on a walk around the Salt Lake Library on my lunch break and took a few samples. So far I’m impressed with the image quality and the compact size of this point and shoot. I felt a little awkward using it at first but given the need it’s a perfect fit for my pocket.

With the air quality hitting the worst in the nation in the Salt Lake valley, we haven’t seen too much of the sun lately. It was nice to see a break in the clouds yesterday on my drive to work. The light was just right so of course I had to pull over to make this photo.

During the holidays I received an email from Dain. He grew up in Utah but now lives in Philadelphia attending dental school. He was in town and his two friends from high school were flying into Utah. Dain asked if I’d be interested in taking their portraits, of course I said yes. I had a great time hanging out with Dain, Jeff & Thomas. Full gallery here
