Commuter Sunrise
I often ask myself if hauling around my camera, extra lens, flash, macbook pro, two external hard drives, power supply and a bunch of little odds and ends in my backpack to work each day is really worth it. Well, on a recent drive to work it paid off. While driving to work this particular day the sun rays were so bright peaking over Francis Peak that I couldn’t resist making this photo.
I normally put my camera on the seat next to me when I drive so I’m not fumbling for it on the freeway. For today’s shot I set the camera to manual focus at infinity, held the camera up to the window and snapped away going 70 miles per hour. I was lucky enough to get a few good shots.

LOL, great story and I really like how it turned out. Lots of energy in the rays.
Gorgeous shot, that is a very intense sunrise. I do the same thing with my camera, it stays on the passenger seat next to me.
I know exactly what you mean – I don’t carry my D90 when I ride my bike to work – but on every other day – it is right there – jammed inside along with my MBP. I usually only take 1 lens though – unless I know I am doing a lunchtime photowalk with work friends.
This is a great shot – especially for drive by!
Nice .
