Last week I had the pleasure of photographing KeeLee in downtown Salt Lake City Utah at Temple Square. She turned eight last month and wanted some photos of her baptism dress. You may remember the session I did with my daughter in the same place not to long ago? I was surprised how different the pictures turned out. Temple Square is choc full of places to shoot and depending on the time of day, some places are better than others. I’ve included a few of my favorites, you can check out the entire gallery here

I’m finally getting around to posting these photos from the latest Utah Strobist meetup. The group got together out near the Salt Lake Marina for a little off camera lighting event. The idea was to have models there for us to photograph and for everyone to share information about their lighting gear and give others a chance to try out their gear. Full set of pictures here
We started at the railroad tracks, these tracks are one of my favorite spots. I really like how the tracks fade off to the left in these photos. We also were shooting towards the sun so we had a nice rim light to work with. The lighting used were two nikon speedlights at camera left with a shoot through umbrella . A silver reflector was used on the photo above for lighting.

The second half of the evening was spent on the “beach” at the Great Salt Lake. A good friend and great photographer Nate brought a model and some snorkeling gear. Our intent was to get some stock image for our portfolios. We got started a bit later than I preferred but I’m fairly happy with the results. The lighting used was one Nikon speedlight with a shoot through umbrella on a voice activated light stand (Nate or Me).

My baby girl turned eight recently, which meant it was time for her to be baptized in our church. Her mother took her shopping for a new dress, shoes and jewelery. She was pretty excited to wear her new dress and accessories so I thought I would surprise her with her own photoshoot. She has heard me talk about going on photoshoots and was pretty excited that this one was for only her.
