Mourning Dove

Canon 40D * EF-70-200mm f/4L * ISO 100 * 1/1000 second * f/4.0

As I parked my car at work today I heard the sound of this Mourning Dove perched on a power pole above my car. I was immediately taken back to my youth growing up on our farm.  Just about daily as I would be out at the crack of dawn or late in the evening changing water I could always count on hearing one.  I was thankful this morning for the brief distraction that allowed me to reflect on a few good memories and to capture this image.

Do you have sounds or smells that trigger memories from the past?

Hi Scott, wow, great post! Being in the throes of winter out here in MA, listening to the mourning dove is certainly a sound of spring and summer for me. I remember vividly the doves call sweeping through the pine trees when I was kid growing up..Now I still hearit but no pines….The sounds, sights and smells one bird can bring are amazing…..

Thank you so much for this post!

    Mike
