Reflection
Canon 40D * EF-24-105mm f/4.0L * ISO 100 * 5 seconds * f/13
This capture is of downtown Salt Lake City on the Main Street Plaza Temple Square. To get this capture I had to prop my tripod on a ledge and use my remote trigger. My tripod doesn’t extend very high or I would have been able get the full reflection. I’m glad I have a full sized tripod under the Christmas tree this year.
Afton Wyoming Photowalk
I spent some time a few weeks ago in Afton Wyoming on a mini-photowalk/drive. Afton has a population of around 1,800 and it’s elevation is around 6200 feet. It took me just a few minutes to walk up and down main street so I ventured out of the city. While not the normal Photowalk that I’m used to this was fun to get out and see the area. Below are a few of my favorites, you can view my flickr set here.

Photowalking Utah – Hill Aerospace Museum
Last weekend our Photowalking Utah event was held at the Hill Aerospace Museum. I’ve been there a few times and was excited to get back. I wasn’t able to stay long but I was able capture a few images. We had about 50 people attend and from what I hear we had quite a few new comers. Hopefully they will be back. Today’s photo was taken at a small cemetery near Afton Wyoming. What caught my attention was the backwards “9″ that was carved for the year 1899, 1900 & the date Oct 29. This girl was just 1 year old, I’m sure it was difficult loosing a child at that age.
Highway 89 Road Art
Just north of Cokeville Wyoming in the middle of a sage brush patch you will find these metal pieces of art to the side of highway 89.
I’ve driven by these many times wondering why someone would go through the effort to make these. After seeing them once again this past weekend I started to think. The winters in Wyoming are long and cold, I’m sure some farmer had all the material lying around and decided to put them to good use.
I grew up on a farm and am familiar with having an excess of metal lying around. My grandpa was a creative man, he would be able to shape bend and assemble metal into some piece of farm equipment to make his life easier as a farmer. I appreciate all the hard work people go through to make art, especially now that I have an interest in photography.
The grass and sagebrush don’t help much to show how big these are, if you look at the image below at it’s ears you will notice they are shovels.
If anyone knows the history behind these feel free to leave a comment.

Star Valley Panorama
Canon 40D * EF-24-105mm f/4.0L * ISO 100 * 1/25 second * f/4
This last weekend my family and I took short break and headed to Star Valley Wyoming. As I stepped out onto the deck of our cabin one evening I saw this image of the sunset and couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures.
This photo is three photos stitched together for the panoramic view. You can view the full sized pano here.
