Beaker
Canon 40D * EF-24-105mm f/4.0L * ISO 200 * 1.3 second * f/9
Taken at our city pumpkin walk. Beaker was one of my favorite muppet characters. It’s pretty sad that I had to explain to my kids who he was and what the muppet show was. I’m just glad they know who Kermit and Miss Piggy are.
Utah Olympic Park
My family and I spent a few days in Park City Utah last week. While there we visited the Utah Olympic Park to watch some bobsledding.
When we arrived in the afternoon there were students on the track, then in the evening the USA bobsled team was practicing.
It was fun watching the sleds fly by at 80+ MPH. My favorite photo is the one below of my family. As we were watching the sleds go by I thought it would be cool to snap a photo of my family with a sled in the frame. My camera can shoot 6.5 frames per second so when we heard a sled coming they gathered by the rail and I started snapping frames. The funny thing about this photo is we didn’t know the sled had flipped over until we were reviewing the photos on my camera.
These two guys rode most of the way down the hill like this until they stopped at the bottom, good news is they walked away.
We hiked about 1 mile to the top of the hill to the start line later that evening. It was fun to watch as they would prepare for their run. I noticed they were very meticulous about the blades on the sled, wiping them off and taking very good care of them. If your in Park City it’s definitely worth visiting the park.

Today’s shot was taken at Deer Valley Utah. I like how the dark grass makes the white Quakies pop.

Antelope Island Bison Roundup Working the Animals – Nov 1, 2008
The November photowalk will be held at the Antelope Island State Park in Syracuse Utah November 1st. Antelope Island is home to one of the largest and oldest publicly owned bison herds in the United States. The Bison will be corralled into pens starting Oct 22nd and then will receive their health checkups starting October 31st.
The photowalk will be held at the Buffalo Pens where the rangers will be giving the bison their health checks. This is a great opportunity to get up close to the Bison and hopefully get some great photos. We can then proceed to Garr Ranch when we are finished at the pens.
Dress accordingly and bring plenty of food and water.
Here are the details for the November 1st event:
Meet in the parking lot west of the entrance gate in Syracuse. There is an entrance fee to the park $9/per car, we can break up into groups and share rides for those interested.

Fall Photoshoot
Canon 40D * EF-24-105mm f/4.0L * ISO 100 * 1/25 second * f/4
Some good friends asked if I would take their family photos this past weekend. We drove to Meuller Park in Bountiful Utah, it was the perfect place to take fall pictures as the leaves were still turning and displaying wonderful colors.
I’ve always feel sorry when I hear other photographers tell their horror stories of a botched photo shoots. Well… now it’s my turn. I wouldn’t call this shoot a botched one but it was very close. I’ve learned a few lessons because of this so all in all the pictures were OK and everyone was happy with the photos.
Not to get into great detail but from now on I will be scouting out the area that I will be shooting beforehand and checking for lighting conditions. I’ve also now learned what my threashold is for my equipment shooting in low light conditions.

365 Days of Searches
I copied the searches off of my blog from the last year into Wordle.net website and came up with this “word cloud”. The larger text means that that word is the popular search.
If you aren’t familiar with www.wordle.net give it a try. It’s addicting……
